'Good Neighbours Network' Launches In Owen Sound

A new initiative is underway in Grey Bruce to help newcomers to the area.

The Good Neighbours Network was officially launched in Owen Sound.

The network will have local people act as mentors for newcomers that will provide information on things like services, recreation opportunities and employment as well as simply support new locals.

Network coordinator Colleen Purdon says the area needs more people and we need them to stay.

"There's a great community feel if you're already part of the community. It's not as easy to get connected of you come from outside," says Purdon.

The Good Neighbour Network is looking for volunteer mentors.

Details are available through the 2-1-1 information line.

The next training session for mentors is April 29, 2016.
