Huron Economic Board Likes Eastern Canadian Ideas

An economic plan in Fredericton, New Brunswick has caught the attention of the Huron County Economic Development Board.

The Huron Business Development Board held its first Annual General Meeting Monday morning.

The guest speaker was Laurie Guthrie, the marketing specialist for the city of Federicton, New Brunswick. She says a program that employs travelling business people as ambassadors has been successful in bringing new business and new residents to Fredericton. Guthrie explains by giving the business people who are already travelling a little training in how to promote their hometown they were able to tap into their network to promote New Brunswick as well as encourage civic pride in the business people.

The ambassador program is a model that other communities could use and there's little cost.

By providing one hour of training they were able to build their team up to 720 ambassadors.
