Pedestrian Hit By Pickup Truck in Mitchell

A pedestrian who was hit by a pickup truck in Mitchell early Saturday morning is being treated for injuries in a London hospital.

The 25-year-old man from West Perth ran into the path of an oncoming pickup shortly after 2:00 Saturday morning at the intersection of St. George Street and Ontario Road in Mitchell.

Police say the driver of the pickup braked and tried to swerve, but was unable to avoid hitting the pedestrian.   The injured man is being treated in hospital in London.

The 19-year-old male driver of the pickup truck was not injured.

The OPP are asking anyone who witnessed the incident to contact them at the Perth County OPP detachment office.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
