Budget Set For Municipality Of Bluewater

The Municipality of Bluewater has finalized its budget.

Mayor Tyler Hessel says considering they started budget deliberations looking at an increase in spending of over 30%, a final figure of 6.97% is more than acceptable.

Hessel explains staff worked hard to protect infrastructure like roads and bridges and deserve a lot of credit for the final figure. He also points out over 4% of that increase is policing, over which the municipality has no control.

When the county and education levy are factored in, the consolidated increase is around zero.

Hessel says rising recreation costs generated a lot of discussion during the budget debate and it's something the municipality of Bluewater is going to look at within the next month or so.
