Minto & North Perth Renew Fire Services Agreement

The Municipality of North Perth has renewed an ongoing agreement with the Town of Minto to continue with Fire Protection Services in North Perth.

As North Perth's Chief Administrative Officer Pat Berfelz points out the agreement has been in place for sometime.

"The Town of Minto is going to provide us with some fire protection services as per a certain area of North Perth, and it's actually the area between Line 88 up to Teviotdale, sort of the triangle corner of North Perth that's closer to Palmerston," says Berfelz.

North Perth Fire Chief Ed Smith says there are certain services that are provided by the Minto Fire Department to that northern area of the county.

"Minto will provide fire suppression, rescue and emergency services including response to motor vehicle collisions, they will also be looking after hazardous materials to an awareness level only," says Smith.

The budgeted cost for 2016 is estimated at roughly $61,000 to the Minto Fire Department for services provided to North Perth.

The term of renewal for the 2016 Fire Services agreement is seven years.
