Two Listowel Curlers Are Competing at the National Mixed Doubles

Two curlers who are regular fixtures around the Listowel Curling Club are competing in the National Mixed Doubles in Saskatoon Saskatchewan.
Katie Cottrill says she and her husband Shawn were invited to the Nationals just last week.

She says Mixed Doubles is gaining in popularity now that it's an Olympic sport.

"It hasn't been very big in Canada up until pretty much  this year so Canada is trying to catch up and develop some teams for it," she says. "So that's kind of what we're looking at as well is building points towards Canada's playdown process for the Olympics in 2018."

The National Mixed Doubles are March 31st to April 3rd.

The Cottrills also advanced to the Provincial Mixed Doubles championship after winning the A Division at the Regional Mixed Doubles competition in Barrie last weekend.
