Kincardine has become a youth friendly community.
Kincardine Youth Waves members accepted the award Thursday at the Parks and Recreation Educational Forum at Blue Mountain Resort.
The community was recognized for outstanding commitment to providing youth with opportunities to play, participate and contribute in their community.
Youth Waves is a community coalition that aims to ensure local youth are healthy, engaged and contributing members of the community.
Kincardine earned a bronze status for meeting ten of 16 criteria.
Established in 2005, the Play Works Youth Friendly Community Recognition Program acknowledges the work by communities across Ontario to ensure that youth (ages 13-19) have continuous access to opportunities ranging from arts to recreation to civic leadership.
