New Youth Mental Health Program to Launch in Listowel

A new youth program focusing on Mental Health and Addiction is coming to Listowel.

Crossing Bridges will be a drop-in based centre for youth who are struggling with mental health issues and addictions.

Perth-Huron United Way Executive Director, Ryan Erb, says there is definitely a need for the program as addiction and mental health issues are on the rise in the region.

"The Crossing Bridges Program that we're bringing to the community will help connect youth with those services by building a trust based relationship first and helping them with professional social workers that will guide them along the way," says Erb.

Funding for the program is coming from money raised during the 2015/16 Perth-Huron United Way Campaign, a total of $80,000 to go toward the new Crossing Bridges Program.

Erb says while they still have not secured a location for the program, it will be based in downtown Listowel with the official launch in September 2016.
