Perth County Approves Paramedics Contract

Perth County Council has ratified a three-year deal with its professional paramedics represented by CUPE Local 4514.

The deal offers wage increases of 1.5% in each of the first two years, and 1.25% in the third.

The deal is retroactive to January 1, 2016.

Other contract improvements include an additional sick day for full time members and more flexibility for bereavement leave for part time paramedics.

Three days of intense talks lead to an agreement on March 24.

The paramedics provide pre hospital care to the four Perth County municipalities along with St. Marys and Stratford.

They provide rapid response to over 10,000 requests for assistance each year.
