Meaford Council Learns More About New School Construction

Meaford’s new K-12 school should be ready to receive its first students in the fall of 2018.

Mayor Barbara Clumpus told council Monday that construction of the new school should begin next year so it will be ready for occupancy in September 2018.

Clumpus went on to say there’s still no final word as to where the new school will be built.

The Bluewater District School Board learned late last week it is to receive $24.1 million from the Province toward building the new school.

It will accomodate students from Kindergarten through Grade 12. Those students currently attend St. Vincent-Euphrasia Elementary School, Meaford Community School and Georgian Bay Secondary School, all in Meaford.
