Grey County Council Considers $200K Hospice Request

Grey County Council will consider a request from the Residential Hospice of Grey Bruce to support the Build a Home for Hospice Campaign.

Executive Director Scott Lovell appeared before council to ask for $200,000 for the new stand alone facility on the east side of Owen Sound.

About $2-million of the $3.5-million needed has been raised so far.

Lovell says over half of the patients have come from outside of the city of Owen Sound since the temporary facility opened in May 2013.

And he says they are split equally between Bruce and Grey counties.

The eight bed facility will be known as Chapman House, in recognition of the $1-million donation from the Chapman Family of Markdale.

The new Residential Hospice of Grey Bruce is expected to open early next year.
