Two motorists Charged For Distracted Driving in Hepworth

Two motorists were nabbed on highway 6 in Hepworth for using a cell phone while driving.

An officer saw a motorist using her phone on Friday afternoon and charged a 42 year old South Bruce Peninsula woman.

Just after handing out that ticket, the officer saw a man texting while driving his Pontiac Montana at the same intersection. The officer pulled up beside the suspect, and honked 3 times but couldn't get the man's attention. The officer had to get out and knock on the man's window.

A 60 year old Wiarton driver was charged.

OPP say 2015 collision data showed a seventh consecutive year in which inattentive driving surpasses impaired driving as a causal factor in the fatal collisions it investigates.
