Former Grey County Church Leader Pleads Guilty

The former leader of the Church of Jesus Christ Restored in Chatsworth has pleaded guilty to nine charges.

57-year-old Fred King was to stand trial,  but instead an agreed statement of facts was read in an Owen Sound court Tuesday.   In that document, King admits to spitting on people, kicking, punching or slapping church members and making some strip in front of the congregation.

16 other charges, including sexual assault, sexual interference, and uttering death threats were withdrawn by the Crown.

King was arrested in April of 2014 in Hamilton after a 16 month investigation by the OPP.  He will be sentenced September 14th.

King's brother, Judson, is scheduled to stand trial on assault charges.   Police have described the church as 'cult like'.
