West Hill Team Wins Bruce Grey Envirothon

The West Hill Secondary School Envirothon Team is heading to the provincial competition at the end of this month.

The senior team won a regional competition at Camp Celtic in Lions Head last week.

The outdoor competition helps build environmental awareness and leadership among young people with hands on experiences.

The Ontario competition takes place in Lindsay between May 29 and June 1 of this year.

Locally, the event is organized and run through the Owen Sound office of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry, and features four stations with questions and fieldwork challenges pertaining to soils, aquatics, wildlife, forestry and this year’s special topic, invasive species.

The West Hill senior team included Cole Radbourne, Gillian Wagenaar, Caleb Chappell, Rosalynn Aiken-Hall and Rose Menominee.
