Huron County Making Donation Directly To Fort McMurray

Huron County council has approved a donation of $5,000 to help with the relief effort in Fort McMurray.

Former Warden Joe Steffler made the motion.

CAO Brenda Orchard explains the money will go directly to the city of Fort McMurray. The county wanted to show support for its municipal partner.

Orchard adds the matching funding from the federal government would not likely apply to a donation from a municipality, so there was no advantage in donating $5,000 to the general fund-raising effort.
