Ambulance Hits Perth County Cyclist; Cyclist Charged

A Perth County cyclists has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act after he was hit by an ambulance early Saturday morning.

The Perth County Paramedic Services ambulance was westbound on Highway 8 between Stratford and Sebringville shortly after 4:00 Saturday morning when the driver spotted a cyclist in the middle of the road.    The driver tried to avoid a collision, but was unable to.

The bicyclist was wearing dark clothing and there were no lights or reflectors on the back of the bicycle. Police also say it was raining at the time.  He was treated in hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, and later released.

The 32-year-old Perth East man is charged with Improper Bicycle Lighting, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.   He also faces a charge of Being Intoxicated in a Public Place.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
