Rabid Bat Found in Huron County

A bat found in Morris Turnberry has tested positive for rabies.

This is the first bat to test positive in Huron County since 2014.

Public Health Inspector Patrick Landry says a bite or scratch from an infected bat can pass on the virus.

He says you should thoroughly wash the infected area, and seek medical attention.  Never touch the bat with bare hands, but try to capture it for rabies testing.

And call the Huron County Health Unit if you find a bat in a room.
