Clinton Raceway Begins Season on Sunday

A tradition in Clinton continues as harness racing returns to the Clinton Raceway on Sunday.

The sport made its debut in Clinton in 1945 and the first meet was held at Clinton Community Park in 1946.

Sunday's event starts at 1:30pm with trotters and pacers on the card.

The 15 date season will also be highlighted by fundraisers for the community.

This Sunday, Central Huron Secondary School will continue to raise funds for their WE day initiatives through a BBQ, silent auction, car wash, bake sale and 50/50 draw.

Race fans will also have the chance to win one of two sets of tickets to see singer Carrie Underwood live at Budweiser Gardens in London on Monday, May 31.

“It’s important for us to give back to the communities that have supported harness racing for so many years here in Clinton. This is a great way to get people involved, and some new faces to the track,” states Jessica Carnochan, who has been in Marketing with the Raceway for 13 seasons.
