Listowel Legionnaires Play TVSBL Home Opener Tonight

The Thames Valley Senior Baseball League is underway and the Listowel Legionnaires will be back in the field tonight in their home opener.

Team chair Chris Kurz says the team is ready to go.

"We're really excited, lots of quality ball players have come out and made the team," he says. "We're hosting the Woodstock Nationals...the weather is supposed to be great. It's gonna be an awsome night."

He says the night will also be in honour of Allyn Ward.

"Allyn Ward is a local umpire who's been involved with ball, both minor ball and senior ball, for years. He always coordinates the umpires for minor ball. Just a really swell guy," Kurz says.

The Listowel Legionnaires play their home opener tonight at 7:30pm at the John Bell South diamond against the Woodstock Nationals.

The Kincardine Cubs won their first game of the season of the TVSB, 9-1 over Woodstock.

The Hanover Hitmen will be in Woodstock for their first game of the season on Sunday.

And the Mitchell Astros home opener is Friday, May 27 against London.
