Bayfield Helping Raise Funds For Fort McMurray

Several of the organizations in Bayfield have come together to launch a fundraiser to support Fort McMurray.

Bayfield Councillor Bill Whetstone explains it was decided at a public meeting earlier this week they could do a couple of things to help.

Each organization is being asked to give part of the money raised at each of their various events through the summer to the Fort McMurry relief effort, and they're also being asked to have a Fort McMurray donation jar at each event.

Whetstone adds they'll send two separate donations to Fort McMurray. The first will be by the end of June so they can take advantage of matching funds through the Red Cross. The second donation will follow later and be sent through the Chamber of Commerce to the Fort McMurray Chamber, so they can decide how the money can be used most effectively.

Whetstone adds the Bayfield Trail Association is co-ordinating the effort and handling any questions people might have on how they can help.
