Busy Summer Expected In Bayfield

The project manager for Regional Tourism Organization 4 says she's not surprised that the unusually warm weather this long weekend is bringing so many people to the village of Bayfield.

Emily Chandler says RTO4 has been involved for more than a year now on a destination development project in Bayfield. She says that means assessing what the biggest attractions in Bayfield are, and then finding ways tourism operators can amplify and enhance those attractions to expand the reach of the people who are hearing about Bayfield.

She says the message about Bayfield is beginning to penetrate the GTA market and by monitoring visits they've found three times the number of visitors are from the GTA and London areas as opposed to towns closer to the area.

Chandler says technology now allows tourism operators to specifically identify people within a certain radius that have an interest in what they have to offer, and target those people by matching what they have to offer with the people most likely to be interested.
