Submission Sought For New Owen Sound Secondary School Name

The Bluewater District School Board is looking for input as the new Owen Sound Naming Committee works to choose a new name for a combined secondary school in the city.

Students from Owen Sound Collegiate and Vocational Institute will join students at West Hill Secondary in September 2016.

The committee involves, students, staff, the local trustee and community representatives from both schools.

The deadline for submissions is next Tuesday.

As well, community suggestion boxes will be set up at these Owen Sound locations:

  • Owen Sound & North Grey Union Public Library
  • YMCA/Julie McArthur Regional Recreation Centre reception area
  • OSCVI and WHSS main school offices
You can also phone either WHSS or OSCVI and calling extension 300, or use Twitter and Facebook with the hashtag #OSnameyourschool.

Each submission should include a suggested school name along with supporting rationale for that name choice.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
