Barn North Of Bluevale Damaged By Fire

A spark from grinding equipment is suspected as the cause of a barn fire north of Bluevale late Wednesday afternoon.

Fire crews from Wingham and Blyth stations, with assistance from Howick and South Bruce departments, arrived on the scene just before 5pm.

It took about three hours to hose down and remove the smoldering straw, but they were able to save the 100-year-old bank barn.

North Huron Fire Chief David Sparling determined that electrical grinding equipment had ignited straw in the basement of the Bluevale-area barn.
