West Grey Mayor Concerned About Retirement Home Closure

There are major concerns in West Grey about the possible closure of the Rockwood Terrace Retirement Home in Durham.

West Grey Council wants Grey County Council to slow down the decision on the fate of the County owned facility.

A consultant's report commissioned by Grey County shows it would be cost effective to move the 100 beds and residents at Rockwood to Grey Gables in Markdale.

West Grey Mayor Kevin Eccles says that report only looks at the financial numbers.

"There's a lot more behind that you'll need to consider and we've got to start gathering that information now," says Eccles.

West Grey council has put out an Request For Proposal for a consultant's study of the social and economic impacts of closing Rockwood.

They want Grey County to help pay for the study and postpone any decision until it's done.
