New Mural For Artists Alley in Owen Sound

Artists Alley in Downtown Owen Sound will boast a new mural, "Vida - A Celebration of Life."

The Owen Sound Artists Co-op, The Community Foundation Grey Bruce, Local Secondary Schools and the Casero Kitchen Table will collaborate on the project.

Graffiti artist Billy Goodkat will work with local students to create a bright and engaging mural.

The interactive project is being created between the Bleeding Carrot and the Milkmaid on the 900 Block of Main Street.

Work will continue every weekday between 3:30 and 6:30pm.

The Mexican eatery, Casero, is donating proceeds from certain refreshments to the cause.

Owen Sound Artists’ Co-op manager Morag Budgeon says “Billy is able to inspire students, to support their growing abilities and understanding of this art form, and to contextualize his role of a contemporary practicing artist in today’s society and our community,” says Budgeon, “teaching youth the messages and ethics surrounding this street art allows a certain amount of policing of graffiti among themselves and their peers.”
