The bear was spotted Wednesday evening in the area of Miller St. and Pearson St. in Meaford.

The Ministry of Natural Resources was notified.

The 'Bear Wise' program states that most bear problems can be averted by removing or controlling things known to attract bears like bird or pet food, garbage, and smells like grease and food residue on barbeques.

To report bear sightings contact the Ministry of Natural Resources Bear Hot Line at 1-866-514-2327.

In a life-threatening situation call 911.
