Minivan-Wheelchair Collision Claims Life Of Harriston Man

A Harriston man died Wednesday in hospital, three days after being injured in a collision involving his wheelchair and a minivan.

Normand Belair, 55, was crossing the intersection of Elora St. S and Yonge St. in Harriston Sunday evening in his wheelchair, when he was hit by a minivan.

He was treated in a local hospital and then airlifted to London with serious injuries. He passed away in hospital on Wednesday.

Wellington County OPP continue their investigation and are asking any witnesses to contact them.

The driver of the minivan, a 69-year-old Harrison woman, was not injured.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
