Second 'Win This Space' Contest Underway Underway in Huron East

The kick-off event for Huron East's second Win This Space contest was held at the Seaforth Golf Club this weekend.

Business Consultant Alison Lobb is one of the judges, and points out the second contest is considerably different than the first Win This Space event.   The first contest was for retail space on the main street of either Seaforth or Brussels.

The Vanastra contest is for manufacturing space, which narrows the field a little, and Lobb adds the manufacturing operation would have to conform to the zoning regulations in Vanastra.

With all of that in mind Lobb says she would have been happy with five contestants, so she's thrilled that 13 people have entered the competition.

The contestants were introduced at the Kick-off.  Lobb says she's specifically looking for someone with the kind of determination and perseverance it takes to succeed, understanding that there will be setbacks along the way.

Lobb adds it's important that they find a business that has a good chance of succeeding, because they don't want to encourage a business that is likely to be gone in a year.   Lobb also points out that in last year's event there was only one official winner, but seven new businesses started up as a result of the contest.
