Attack Look to Fill Hole Left by Sharipzyanov

The Owen Sound Attack are looking to replace Damir Sharipzyanov with their First Round pick at the Canadian Hockey League Import Draft.

In a release, the club says Sharipzyanov is not returning for an overage season, leaving a spot open.

“We wish Damir well in his development with the LA Kings," says Attack General Manager Dale DeGray. “We knew Damir would not be returning for an overage season and now our focus shifts to filling a hole in our lineup.”

DeGray is reportedly keeping his options open and is not looking specifically for either a forward or a defenseman.

“We have some irons in the fire and being at the NHL Draft last weekend in Buffalo certainly helped that along. We need a player that can help us offensively next season, but whether that is from a forward position or offense from the back end, remains to be determined.”

The draft begins at 11:00 a.m. today. The Attack pick 29th overall. That is expected to happen early this afternoon.
