Major Renovations Planned For South Huron Recreation Facilities

The Municipality of South Huron is in the process of upgrading its recreational facilities.

Community Services Manager Jo-Anne Fields says they're addressing some of the effects of age on both the Exeter and District Swimming Pool and the South Huron Recreation Centre.  Both facilities are more than 30 years old.

The Rec. Centre is not able to accommodate girls teams, so they are going to need six dressing rooms and one for the junior team. They are also adding a walking track to the Rec. Centre.

Fields says they have conceptual designs for both facilities and the estimated cost is about $6-million for the Rec. Centre and about $2.5-million for the pool, but she stresses both of those figures are estimates.

They are going to tender on the pool now, and Fields suggests a completion date for the upgrades will depend on the costs, and the weather.
