Grey County Man Threatened With Hitman Scam

Grey County OPP are warning residents about a new "hitman scam" after a self proclaimed serial killer asked a resident for money to avoid being murdered.

Police say a Georgian Bluffs resident received an email earlier this week from an unknown person claiming they were being paid to kill the recipient of the email.

The email says "you have been betrayed by someone," who hired the hitman to "kill you." The hitman offers to cancel the contract and name their employer for a price.

The Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre says people should ignore the emails which use death threats to frighten and scam residents.
