259 Grey Bruce Students Working Thanks To Jobs Funding

Over 200 students in Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound are employed this summer thanks to the Canada Summer Jobs Program.

MP Larry Miller says 142 employers received nearly $595,000 in funding to help create the opportunities for the 259 students.

The program offers funds to not for profit groups, public sector employers, and small businesses to hire youth aged 15-30 who are full time students returning to school in the fall.

“I am very pleased to see that a large number of employers will be receiving funding through the Canada Summer Jobs program to create opportunities for young workers,” says Miller. “As the school year is wrapping up, this is a great way for local employers to hire young workers for the summer and also a great way for students to gain valuable work experience while also saving money for the following school year.”
