Dangerous Giant Hogweed A Threat In Owen Sound

The Poisonous Giant Hogweed Plant has taken root in a variety of locations around Owen Sound including city trails.

Residents are urged to avoid contact with the invasive plant that can cause painful blisters and other serious health problems.

Hogweed can spread rapidly in fields, woodlands, and streams.

City staff are working to destroy the plants and prevent further spread.

Areas will be treated in accordance with the pesticides act.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
