Cephas Roth Memorial Tournament Begins

Tavistock is welcoming championship teams as it hosts the annual Cephas Roth Memorial Tournament.

The roster includes three national junior teams: The Canadian Junior Men's National Team; the Australian Junior Men's National Team; and the Czech Republic Junior Men's National Team.

The three-time defending ISC World Champion Hill United Chiefs are back this year to defend their Cephas Roth title.

The 2015 ISC Finalists the Toronto Gators will be there along with local elite teams like the Shakespeare Falcons, Kitchener Hallman Cubs and Elmira Expos.

The format will include three pools of five teams with a four game guarantee. The winners of each pool and the second place finishing team will move on to the Sunday morning semifinal games. The Championship final is Sunday afternoon.

Games start tonight with the Team Canada Juniors taking on the Kitchener Hallman Cubs at 7 p.m. at Queens Park.  At 9 p.m. the Shakespeare Falcons battle the Czech Republic Juniors. At Optimist Park the host Tavistock Athletics Juniors play the Elmira Expos at 7 p.m.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
