Thousands In Attendance At 16th Annual Mount Forest Fireworks Festival

The 16th Annual Mount Forest Fireworks Festival had crowds numbering in the thousands jamming the downtown core on Saturday along with the 18th Annual Kin Club Classic Car Show.

And Organizers couldn't have been happier with the weather.

"Weather wise, perfect. The amount of cars, perfect. The crowd, perfect. You couldn't ask for better, you truly can't. It's going to be tough to beat next year, it really is," says Phil Myers, event co-chair.

Myers says everything went off without a hitch on Saturday, with people and cars filling up the downtown by as early as 8am.

A motorcycle show-and-shine at the Legion parking lot added to the excitement.

There were large crowds at the Mount Forest Sports Complex for a demolition derby Saturday afternoon as well as the midway and, of course, the main attraction, the fireworks show.

Ed Becker of Clinton won the Kin Memorial Trophy with his 1958 Pontiac Chieftain .

And there’s a lot of chatter about the area’s first-ever mixed martial arts competition which gets under way on Sunday at 4pm.
