Debt Hurts Rural Ontario, Says Huron-Bruce MPP

Huron-Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson says rural Ontario will suffer with Ontario's debt set to increase by more than $50-billion in the next four years.

Ontario's Financial Accountability Office says the debt will reach $350-billion by 2020-2021.

She says Ontarians need to call out the Premier for poor fiscal management.

"Rural Ontario is already feeling the effects of increasing hydro rates and cuts to much needed front-line healthcare," says Thompson. "It's time the premier and her government stopped putting their own priorities ahead of the realities and needs Ontarians face every day."

Thompson says the Financial Accountability Office believes the government will artificially balance the budget before the next election with the one-time sell off of Hydro One, and LCBO land in Toronto.
