Miss Midwest Partners With Get In Touch For Hutch

Jordan Scholton of Harriston is this year's Miss Midwest Queen, and she has chosen the charity she wants to raise funds for.

Jordan chose the Get In Touch For Hutch Buddy Bench initiative, and she gave some background on the charity.

"I chose this charity because I believe mental health and awareness is a rising issue in today's society, especially with youth," she says. "This charity is made in memory of Steven Hutchison, who took his own life four years ago, and it was started by his parents Stu and Myrna and their son Kevin out of Arthur."

The idea behind the Buddy Benches is to encourage inclusion and empathy among school kids and the public for those who may be struggling. Jordan will be doing numerous fundraisers over the next year to help promote the initiative. She says they have some ideas already as the plan what to do for fundraisers.

"We have a lot of ideas, nothing set in stone yet, but I really want to focus on the youth," she says. "So we are planning some form of a children's event soon."
