UPDATE: Hwy. 9 Near Clifford Reopened Following Collision

One man has been taken to hospital following a crash involving a transport truck carrying 20,000 L of molasses near Clifford.

The Ontario Provincial Police say on Friday around 1pm, the transport truck collided with a Volkswagen Golf on Hwy. 9 between Sideroad 45 and Huron Bruce Rd. The truck then swerved, rolled into a ditch and spilled roughly 800 L of diesel fuel.

The driver of the Volkswagen, a 24-year-old Toronto man, was taken to hospital with serious non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the transport truck was not hurt.

Hwy .9 was closed between Sideroad 45 and Huron Bruce Rd. for several hours. It was reopened around 4pm.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
