Mental Health Funding Coming For Local Hospitals

New mental health funding is coming to hospitals in Mount Forest, Palmerston, Fergus and Guelph.

The province has announced $326,000 for North Wellington Health Care, which operates hospitals in Mount Forest and Palmerston, and an equal amount for Fergus. It will pay for mental health assessments being available on evenings, weekends and holidays.

Guelph General Hospital will get $2,416,300 to pay for a mental health nurse to be available 24 hours a day, and for new addiction councillors.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
