North Perth Purchases Two Public Schools

North Perth is closing a deal to purchase the surplus Listowel Central and Wallace Public schools from the Avon Maitland District School Board.

CAO Kris Snell explains that part of the process the school board is required to follow is to offer the schools to other school boards in the district first.  After that, other agencies like the municipality have an opportunity to purchase the property before it goes to public auction.

Snell says that North Perth council wants to ensure the best use for those two properties for the community.

He could not comment on what council has potentially planned for the old schools.   That will be the next step after the deals close in September.
