Meaford To Host OPP Golden Helmets

The OPP Golden Helmets are coming to Meaford.

The Meaford Scarecrow Invasion and Family Festival has announced that the OPP Motorcycle Precision Team will join in the 20th anniversary celebrations on Friday, September 30.

Twenty five active OPP officers from throughout Ontario make up the Golden Helmets team. Their 45 minute performance will start at 5pm on Sykes St., and kick off of the invasion's parade that starts at 6pm.

"The Golden Helmets last appearance in Meaford was in 2013, the year of their 50th anniversary," say head scarecrow Marilyn Morris. "It’s an honour to have them back this year to help us celebrate our 20th anniversary."

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
