Huron County Backpack Program Gears Up

There's one group in Huron County that's already thinking about "back to school."

Registrations are now being accepted for the Huron County Backpack program.  It's open to any family that needs a back pack for their child returning to school in September. Each back pack is filled with supplies for the appropriate gender and age and grade of each child.

Donations to the Back Pack program can be dropped off at the Salvation Army locations in Goderich, Clinton, and Wingham by August 17.

All monetary donations in the form of cheques can be made out to Huron County Food Bank Distribution Centre; Attention Back Pack Program.

The registration deadline is August 17.  Back packs will be available for pick up starting August 24, and clients will be called and given times for pick ups. You may call to register or visit one of these locations:

The client will have to specify a pick-up location when registering.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
