Fun New Sport May Surface In Clinton

Members of the Clinton Lions Club are proposing to bring a new sport to the Clinton area.

The Lions Club currently looks after part of the conservation area in Clinton and they've asked the Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority for their support in creating a nine-hole frisbee golf course on the front portion.

ABCA Supervisor Kate Monk says frisbee golf is similar to regular golf in that the golfer has three frisbees of different sizes that would correspond to a golfers driver, fairway iron and putter and the object of the game is to throw the frisbee into a basket that is suspended on a pole.

Monk says the frisbee golf course would provide something for young people and families to do and the ABCA fully supports the project.

She adds there would be no cost to the conservation authority but the Lions wanted ABCA's approval before they started their fund-raising.

Monk says the Lions can now get started on their fund-raising and they could have the frisbee golf course up and running this fall.

She adds it could be a year-round activity.
