Grey County Council Wants More Information On Niagara Escarpment Expansion

Grey County Council is worried about changes the Niagara Escarpment Commission is proposing.

The Commission is wanting to expand Niagara Escarpment controlled lands. Chatsworth Mayor Bob Pringle moved a motion requesting at least one more public meeting so people will have a better idea how their property might be affected.  The commission has already held one public meeting on the issue in July.

"It was well attended but the information was somewhat vague as far as being specific," says Pringle.

Of the 45 thousand hectares of land proposed to be added to Escarpment lands, approximately 33 thousand are in Grey County.

Grey County Council is already on record as calling for the Niagara Escarpment Commission to be phased out.
