Funds Being Raised For Owen Sound Woman Needing Double Lung Transplant

A young woman from Owen Sound is in need of some help as she prepares for an intense medical journey.

Raven Taylor, a 23-year-old from Owen Sound, has had issues breathing since she was 12. At 16 she was diagnosed with what's known as mixed connective tissue disease, which is an autoimmune disease that encompasses an umbrella of many diseases, and is called an “overlap disease.” This means that symptoms of different diseases happen over time, not all at once.

Raven's 2015 tests revealed she only has 33% lung capacity, and needs to move to Toronto with her mother to be on call if donor lungs become available. Due to high costs of being near the hospital in Toronto at all times, fundraising efforts have begun to help Raven and her family get her healthy again.
