Woman Struck By Lightning In West Wawanosh

A bit of an odd story out of West Wawanosh Township in Huron County.

It was a very close call for a local woman who was struck by lightning while working away in the basement of her farmhouse on Belgrave Rd. Saturday.

Lucknow Fire Chief Peter Steer tells CKNX News it happened in the afternoon during a thunderstorm that was moving through the area.

Steer says the woman was treated by EMS and first responders at the scene and taken to hospital.

Her condition remains unknown at this time and her name has not been released for reasons of privacy.

Steer says this is the first time he's ever seen anything like this in his 47-year career.
