West Nile Found in Perth County Mosquito Test

A second mosquito test in Perth County has come up positive for West Nile Virus.

In a press release issued on Monday afternoon, the Perth County Health Unit says tests done on mosquitoes from the Southeast Listowel area have indeed come up positive for the disease.

"We are not surprised with this result because West Nile virus activity has been increasing in Ontario over the past few weeks," says Stephanie Carlisle, Public Health Inspector.

Health officials have been trapping and testing since June and have applied two rounds of larvicide in catch basins in Stratford, St. Mary's, Listowel and Mitchell.
