UPDATE: Body Found Believed To Be Missing Man

Owen Sound police say officers have located a body that is believed to be 19-year-old Andrew Fitzgerald of Nova Scotia.

The Owen Sound Police Service says on Thursday around 3:45pm, the OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit located the body near the water treatment facility on the east shore of the Owen Sound harbour.

A coroner attended the scene and has ordered an autopsy to be conducted at the London Health Sciences Centre. A date for the post-mortem examination is unknown.

It is unknown if foul play is suspected, but police have scheduled a news conference for Friday at 11am regarding the investigation.

Fitzgerald had just completed training at the 4th Canadian Training Centre in Meaford prior to his disappearance. He was last seen on Saturday around 4:30am, in the area of the Petro Canada gas station located at 16th St. E and 9th Ave. in Owen Sound.
