Child Killed After Being Hit By Vehicle In Grey Highlands

A young child is dead after being struck by a vehicle in the Municipality of Grey Highlands.

The Ontario Provincial Police say on Sunday morning, the child and her family were dropped off at a home on Concession 8A by a Chevrolet passenger van. The vehicle, driven by a 61-year-old woman from Moorfield, hit then the child as it was leaving the property.

The OPP responded to the home around 10:18am.

Police say CPR was performed at the scene before 20-month-old Heidi Bauman of Wellesley was taken to hospital, where she was pronounced dead

An investigation is ongoing, but no charges are expected to be laid.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
