Delivery Truck Hits Pedestrian In Meaford

A pedestrian ended up with serious injuries after he was struck by a vehicle on Hwy. 6 and Hwy. 10 in Meaford.

The Grey County OPP says on Wednesday around 8am, the 54-year-old man was walking northbound on the paved portion north of Sunny Valley Rd. when he was hit by the delivery truck.

An ambulance transported the Acton man to hospital in Owen Sound. His injuries were deemed to be non-life threatening.

The driver of the truck, 24-year old Andries Van Es of Grimsby, was charged with careless driving.

Grey County Emergency Services and the Inter-Township Fire Department assisted at the scene.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
